Platform content read/write via overbroad default permissions
Published Feb 5, 2026 · Updated Feb 5, 2026
Incorrect default permissions in affected Tanium Benchmark releases allow remote authenticated users to read and write all platform content. Benchmark's default permission configuration grants platform-wide content access to accounts holding the Benchmark Service Account permission instead of restricting them to Benchmark content. Exploitation requires an authenticated Tanium account with that high-privilege permission; confidentiality and integrity are affected, but service interruption is not reported.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=2.12.0 <2.12.82

What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
