Authenticated code execution via improper output sanitization
Published Feb 5, 2026 · Updated Feb 5, 2026
Improper output sanitization in affected Tanium Appliance 1.8.3 and 1.8.4 builds allows remote authenticated users to execute unauthorized code. Tanium has not disclosed the affected output path or how attacker-controlled data reaches a code-execution sink, beyond identifying inadequate output sanitization. Exploitation requires a highly privileged authenticated TanOS account and a network-reachable appliance; successful attacks compromise the appliance.
