Authenticated code execution via unrestricted template writes
Published Dec 30, 2025 · Updated Dec 30, 2025
Code injection in 08CMS Novel System 3.0 through 3.4 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary PHP through a template edit. The admina/mtpls.inc.php handler passes template names and stripslashes-processed content to str2file, which writes both without validation or restriction. Administrative template-management access is required; the resulting PHP file executes in the web server context when requested.
