CVE-2025-15176Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Remote UPF crash via malformed IPv6 jumbo header

Published Dec 29, 2025 · Updated Dec 29, 2025

Reachable assertion in Open5GS 2.7.0 through 2.7.5 allows remote attackers to crash the UPF with a crafted GTP-U IPv6 packet. In decode_ipv6_header in lib/pfcp/rule-match.c, an IPv6 header with payload length zero and a nonzero Next Header reaches ogs_assert(nxt == 0) instead of being rejected. The UPF must have a PFCP-installed PDR with an SDF filter; one malformed packet then aborts the process and interrupts user-plane traffic.
