Account takeover via skipped authentication steps
Published Aug 6, 2026 · Updated Aug 6, 2026
Authentication bypass in WSO2 identity products allows remote attackers to take over accounts through conditional-authentication flows. The Conditional Authentication script mishandles callbacks when executeStep re-runs the same step, allowing intermediate challenges to be skipped. Exploitation requires an affected secondary authenticator, a registered callback, step re-execution, user enrollment, and completion of every preceding step.
