API key disclosure via admin script localization
Published Jan 9, 2026 · Updated Jan 9, 2026
Sensitive information exposure in WPDeveloper BetterDocs 4.3.3 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to obtain its OpenAI API key. The scripts() function localizes the server-side ai_autowrite_api_key setting into JavaScript on the BetterDocs dashboard, exposing it in the page source. Contributor-level access and a configured key are required; disclosure enables reuse of the credential against OpenAI, including quota or billing consumption.
