Code execution via time-unit parser stack overflow
Published Dec 23, 2025 · Updated Dec 23, 2025
Stack-based buffer overflow in Unidata NetCDF-C allows context-dependent attackers to execute code through a crafted file or page. The time-unit parser copies attacker-controlled data into a fixed-length stack buffer without first validating its length. Execution requires the current user to open the malicious file or visit the page, and resulting code runs with that user's privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
