Stored XSS via unescaped shortcode attributes
Published Feb 21, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored XSS in WP-Appbox 4.5.4 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through crafted appbox shortcode attributes. The appbox shortcode handler accepts user-supplied attributes and renders them without sufficient sanitization or context-appropriate output escaping. Contributor-level access is required to store the payload; the script runs when another user opens the affected page, exposing that browser session to attacker-controlled code.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
