CVE-2025-14821

Local SSH interception via writable configuration path

Published Apr 7, 2026 · Updated Apr 7, 2026

Uncontrolled path use in Red Hat Hardened Images allows local users to compromise libssh-based SSH connections on Windows. Libssh automatically reads configuration and known-hosts data from C:\etc even though an unprivileged local user can create or modify that directory. The attacker must have local low-privileged access and can inject settings that downgrade security, alter host trust, or enable interception.
