CVE-2025-14764Network attack vector

Stored-data manipulation via uncommitted instruction-file key

Published Dec 17, 2025 · Updated Dec 17, 2025

Cryptographic key substitution in AWS S3 Encryption Client for Go 3.1.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to alter plaintext. When instruction files hold encrypted data keys, the client accepts a replacement key without cryptographically binding it to the ciphertext. Exploitation requires permission to replace the bucket's instruction file and a rogue key that decrypts the existing ciphertext into attacker-chosen plaintext.
