Heap-buffer over-read via unchecked ct_write size
Published Dec 14, 2025 · Updated Dec 14, 2025
Heap-based buffer overflow in gmg137 snap7-rs 1.142.0 through 1.142.1 allows remote attackers to read beyond a heap buffer via ct_write. The ct_write Rust API passes an unconstrained size into the C++ layer, where TSnap7MicroClient::opWriteArea uses memcpy to read beyond the caller's heap buffer. Reachability requires a host application to expose attacker-influenced ct_write parameters; the demonstrated result is an out-of-bounds heap read, not code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
