Local privilege escalation via predictable installer files

Published Jan 6, 2026 · Updated Jan 6, 2026

Insecure temporary file handling in Altera Quartus Prime Pro 24.1 through 25.1.1 allows local users to gain elevated privileges. The Windows self-extracting installer uses predictable temporary file names, enabling a planted binary to run during installation.
