Stored XSS via unescaped uploader shortcode attributes
Published Jan 6, 2026 · Updated Jan 6, 2026
Stored XSS in BuddyDev MediaPress 1.6.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through mpp-uploader attributes. The shortcode renders user-supplied attributes in uploader and gallery-creation template output without sufficient sanitization or context-appropriate escaping, storing executable markup. Contributor-level access is required to place the shortcode in a post, and the script runs when a user opens the affected page.
