CVE-2025-14549Network attack vector

Buffer over-read via premature NUL termination

Published Dec 15, 2025 · Updated Dec 15, 2025

Out-of-bounds read in Eclipse OMR 0.7.0 allows remote attackers to expose adjacent memory through charset conversion on Z processors. The Z-only ValuePropagation optimization incorrectly treats the sun_nio_cs_SingleByteEncoder_encodeFromLatin1Impl array-translation intrinsic as needing a stop character, causing TROO to stop at an embedded NUL and truncate the output before a consumer reads beyond it. Reachability requires an OpenJ9 consumer on IBM Z to invoke the optimized Latin-compatible-to-IBM-1047/037 conversion with embedded NUL data; reported consequences include memory disclosure and downstream integrity or availability effects.
