Administrative denial of service via interface flooding
Published Jan 26, 2026 · Updated Jan 26, 2026
Resource exhaustion in Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization 4 allows guest OS users to block VMI administrative updates via interface reports. The active guest agent copies every reported guest interface into VMI status until the object reaches etcd's storage limit, leaving no capacity for later configuration changes. Guest-agent connectivity and control of a VM are required; administrators can then be unable to change settings such as network link state.
