Contributor-level stored XSS via unescaped shortcode styling
Published Jan 7, 2026 · Updated Jan 7, 2026
Stored XSS in the style_css shortcode attribute in the Album Gallery WordPress plugin 1.0.4 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts. The shortcode renderer accepts style_css without sufficient input sanitization and emits it into page output without context-appropriate escaping. Contributor-level access is required, and the stored script runs in the browser of each account opening the injected page, enabling page-content modification and access to session-available data.
