Stored XSS via unescaped shortcode attributes
Published Mar 26, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored XSS in Advanced iFrame 2025.2 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through shortcode attributes. The advanced_iframe shortcode stores contributor-controlled attributes without sufficient input sanitization or output escaping, then emits them as executable page markup. Contributor-level access is required, and the script executes in the browser of any user visiting the affected page, exposing data and actions available to that WordPress session.
