CVE-2025-1435Network attack vector

Keymaster privilege escalation via unvalidated registration role request

Published Mar 5, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2026

CSRF in bbPress 2.6.11 and earlier allows remote attackers to gain Keymaster privileges through an administrator-triggered request. The bbp_user_add_role_on_register() function accepts a selected registration role without validating a request nonce. Exposure requires active bbPress on single-site WordPress newer than 5.3.0 with open registration, plus an administrator who follows the forged request.
