Local session compromise via bypassed D-Bus authorization
Published Jan 14, 2026 · Updated Jan 14, 2026
Improper access control in InputPlumber before 0.69.0 allows local users to inject input, disclose files, or interrupt the daemon. The root D-Bus service builds Polkit checks from a caller PID subject that can be reused during authorization, while Polkit support is also disabled in default builds. Any local account able to reach the system bus can race the check or call exposed methods, enabling active-session keystrokes, root-file error disclosure, or memory exhaustion.
