Privilege escalation in DOM Notifications
Published Dec 9, 2025 · Updated Apr 13, 2026
Privilege escalation in the DOM Notifications component in Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird allows remote attackers to gain elevated privileges. Mozilla has not disclosed the faulty operation or untrusted input involved, and the linked issue remains access-restricted. Exploitation requires user interaction with attacker-controlled content; in Thunderbird, ordinary email reading disables scripting, so exposure is limited to browser or browser-like contexts.
