Contributor-level settings modification via weak capability check
Published Dec 13, 2025 · Updated Dec 13, 2025
Missing authorization in GalleryCreator SimpLy Gallery 3.3.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to modify plugin settings. The pgc_sgb_action_wizard AJAX handler authorizes update_option requests with edit_posts instead of manage_options, then writes attacker-supplied values to pgc_sgb_* options. Contributor-level access is sufficient, and the reported consequence is limited to unauthorized changes to the plugin configuration.
