Stored XSS via unescaped shortcode start attribute
Published Jan 7, 2026 · Updated Jan 7, 2026
Stored XSS in Mstoic Themes Mstoic Shortcodes 2.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through the start attribute. The ms_youtube_embeds shortcode handler accepts the start value without sufficient sanitization and emits it into YouTube embed markup without output escaping. Contributor-level access is required to store the payload in a page, and the script runs in the browser of each user who views that page.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
