CVE-2025-1412Network attack vector

Privilege escalation via unrevoked conversion sessions

Published Feb 24, 2025 · Updated Feb 24, 2025

Session management in Mattermost 9.11.0 through 9.11.6 and 10.4.0 through 10.4.1 allows remote authenticated users to retain bot privileges. ConvertUserToBot returns without calling RevokeAllSessions, so pre-conversion tokens remain valid after the account becomes a bot. An existing session must survive an administrator's conversion of the account, after which access is limited to permissions assigned to the bot.
