Local privilege escalation via unquoted service path
Published Dec 22, 2025 · Updated Dec 22, 2025
Privilege escalation in NetBT e-Fatura before 1.2.15 allows local users to execute arbitrary code as LocalSystem through InboxProcessor. The Windows service registers C:\inetpub\wwwroot\InboxProcessor\Netbt.Inbox.Process.exe without quotation marks, while its containing directory grants BUILTIN\Users write access. A low-privileged local user can place a crafted executable in the searched path and obtain elevated execution when the service starts.
