CVE-2025-1399Network attack vector

Process-memory disclosure via malformed EtherNet/IP response

Published May 7, 2025 · Updated May 7, 2025

Out-of-bounds read in libplctag 2.0 through 2.6.3 allows remote attackers to disclose process memory via malformed EtherNet/IP replies. The unpack_response function in session.c processes a malformed reply without rejecting it before reading beyond the received buffer. Exploitation requires an application to connect to an attacker-controlled or compromised PLC; the reported consequence is memory disclosure only.
