Stored XSS via unescaped buttom_image shortcode attribute
Published Dec 12, 2025 · Updated Dec 12, 2025
Stored XSS in Paypal Payment Shortcode 1.01 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through buttom_image. The [paypal-shortcode] processor accepts the buttom_image attribute and emits it into page output without input sanitization or context-appropriate escaping. Contributor-level access is required; the stored payload executes in the browser whenever a user opens the affected page, enabling actions in that site's security context.
