Authenticated database inference via unparameterized ORDER BY
Published Dec 6, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
SQL injection in TaxoPress 3.40.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to infer database data through the AI preview AJAX endpoint. The endpoint passes the user-controlled existing_terms_orderby value into an ORDER BY fragment without parameterization or a strict allowlist. Contributor-level access, AI metabox permission, and valid post context are required; repeated time-delay queries disclose data indirectly and degrade database performance.
