Contributor-level stored XSS via unescaped shortcode attributes
Published Jan 9, 2026 · Updated Jan 9, 2026
Stored XSS in the PullQuote shortcode in PullQuote 1.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through attributes. The shortcode handler places user-supplied attribute values into rendered page output without sufficient input sanitization or context-appropriate escaping. Contributor-level access is required to store the payload in a post or page, and the script runs in the browser of any visitor who opens the injected content.
