Contributor-level stored XSS via unescaped shortcode ID
Published Jan 7, 2026 · Updated Jan 7, 2026
Stored XSS in WisdmLabs AI BotKit 1.1.7 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through a widget shortcode. The render_chatbot_widget method copies the ai_botkit_widget id attribute into data-chatbot-id without sanitization or attribute escaping. Contributor-level access is sufficient to persist the payload in a post, and the script runs in the browser of each user who views that page.
