SYSTEM code execution via writable temporary batch files
Published Feb 6, 2026 · Updated Feb 6, 2026
Local privilege escalation in ESET Management Agent 12.5.2104.0 and earlier allows local users to execute code as SYSTEM on Windows. During commands from ESET PROTECT Web Console, the agent stores batch files in a predictable, writable location and later executes their altered contents. Local Administrator rights and an agent command execution are required; successful file replacement elevates Administrator-controlled code to SYSTEM.
