URL-generation manipulation via unvalidated Host header
Published Dec 1, 2025 · Updated Dec 1, 2025
Host header injection in MediaCrush 1.0.0 and 1.0.1 allows remote attackers to alter generated media URLs through crafted requests. The cdn_url function in mediacrush/paths.py strips but does not validate Host before comparing it with incoming_domain to choose relative or absolute URLs. Unauthenticated network access is sufficient; the direct effect is limited to switching URL form, while cache or generated-link abuse depends on deployment behavior.
