Stored XSS via unescaped ez-toc shortcode attributes
Published Feb 19, 2026 · Updated Feb 19, 2026
Stored XSS in Magazine3 Easy Table of Contents 2.0.78 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts via ez-toc attributes. The shortcode handler processes user-controlled attributes without sufficient sanitization and emits their values into generated page HTML without adequate output escaping. Contributor-level access is required to store a crafted shortcode in a post or page; the script runs in a visitor's browser when the injected content is viewed.
