Local crash via unchecked command-line copy
Published Feb 17, 2025 · Updated Feb 18, 2025
Stack-based buffer overflow in eScan Antivirus 7.0.32 for Linux allows local users to crash VirusPopUp via a crafted command-line argument. VirusPopUp copies infected-file information from that argument into a fixed-size stack buffer with strcpy and no length check. Local users must invoke the graphical popup with an overlong value; the demonstrated result is a crash with base-pointer overwrite.
