Authenticated file read via unchecked .htaccess overwrite
Published Feb 19, 2026 · Updated Feb 19, 2026
Missing authorization in WP Audio Gallery 2.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to overwrite the site's .htaccess file. The wpag_htaccess_callback function accepts an AJAX request without a capability check or nonce validation and writes attacker-supplied content into .htaccess. Subscriber-level access is sufficient, and arbitrary server-file reads result only under configurations where the supplied directives expose files.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
