Editor-level code execution via shortcode content override
Published Dec 29, 2025 · Updated Dec 29, 2025
Code injection in Advanced Ads 2.0.14 and earlier allows remote authenticated users with Editor access to execute PHP on the server. The plain-ad renderer accepts change-ad__content as replacement ad content and passes that content to PHP eval when PHP execution is enabled. Editor-level access and a shortcode-rendered plain ad with PHP execution enabled are required, after which injected code runs with the WordPress server process's privileges.
