Local process crash via duplicate content free
Published Nov 23, 2025 · Updated Nov 24, 2025
Double free in floating-window handling in Arun Prakash Jana nnn 5.0 and 5.1 allows local users to crash the process. When newwin fails in show_content_in_floating_window, the callee frees the content buffer, and show_stats later frees the same pointer. Triggering the failure requires local access and reaches only the running nnn process, interrupting that user's file-manager session.
