Unauthenticated root command execution via service parameter
Published Nov 23, 2025 · Updated Nov 24, 2025
Command injection in D-Link DIR-852 firmware 1.00 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands as root through /gena.cgi. The handler incorporates the service query parameter into a shell command without neutralizing backtick command substitution. An unauthenticated SUBSCRIBE request to the router's UPnP event service is sufficient, allowing full control of the device.
