CVE-2025-1352Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Parser crash via malformed DWARF data

Published Feb 16, 2025 · Updated Jun 2, 2026

Memory corruption in elfutils eu-readelf 0.192 allows remote attackers to crash the utility by processing crafted DWARF data. The __libdw_thread_tail function in libdw_alloc.c mishandles an attacker-controlled w value during DWARF parsing, resulting in an illegal memory read. Exploitation requires a user to process the crafted file, and upstream classifies the resulting command-line crash as an ordinary bug rather than a security issue.
