Remote code execution via filename sanitization ordering
Published Dec 24, 2025 · Updated Dec 24, 2025
Unrestricted file upload in Rocketgenius Gravity Forms before 2.9.23.1 allows remote attackers to execute PHP through chunked uploads. The upload handler checks a filename ending in an extra exclamation mark against blocked extensions, then WordPress sanitization removes that mark and leaves a PHP filename. A public form with multi-file upload enabled and a discoverable upload path is required; successful exploitation runs code in the WordPress hosting context.
