Authentication bypass via insecure LDAP default
Published Nov 21, 2025 · Updated Nov 21, 2025
Authentication bypass in HashiCorp Vault Terraform Provider 4.2.0 through 5.4.0 allows remote attackers to gain Vault access via LDAP. The vault_ldap_auth_backend resource writes deny_null_bind=false when the setting is omitted, overriding Vault's secure API default. Exploitation requires a provider-created LDAP backend without an explicit setting and an LDAP server that accepts anonymous or unauthenticated binds.
