Secret recovery via incomplete seed decryption
Published Dec 2, 2025 · Updated Dec 2, 2025
Insufficiently random key derivation in Cloudflare gokey before 0.2.0 allows local users to recover seed-derived secrets. The unwrapSeed function passes a nonzero-length destination slice to AES-GCM Open, so decrypted bytes are appended outside the returned buffer while only the IV and authentication tag remain as derivation input. Exploitation requires possession of an encrypted seed file created for the -s workflow; master-password-only generation and seed confidentiality are unaffected.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
