Editor-level code execution via evaluated modal conditions
Published Dec 19, 2025 · Updated Dec 19, 2025
Code injection in OceanWP Ocean Modal Window before 2.3.3 allows remote authenticated users to execute server code via crafted modal conditions. The modal display logic reads the user-controlled mw_display_on or mw_hide_on post meta value and passes the condition to eval on every site page. An account with edit_pages capability must create or modify a modal; visiting any site page then evaluates the injected PHP and grants full server-side code execution.
