Unauthenticated root command execution via pre-auth Telnet handler
Published Dec 10, 2025 · Updated Dec 10, 2025
Authentication bypass in TOTOLINK X5000R before 9.1.0u.6369_B20230113 allows remote attackers to gain a root shell over Telnet. The cstecgi.cgi dispatcher handles action=telnet before loginAuth and accepts a date-derived code plus an empty NVRAM Telnet key. Reachability requires access to the HTTP management interface, and the factory-reset blank Telnet credential grants full configuration and filesystem control.
