Username enumeration via discrepant SMS OTP errors
Published Sep 15, 2026 · Updated Sep 15, 2026
Information disclosure in WSO2 Identity Server 7.1.0 and 7.2.0 allows remote attackers to enumerate usernames through SMS OTP requests. The SMS OTP flow returns distinguishable error responses when a registered account lacks a configured mobile number instead of presenting a uniform failure. No authentication is required, but the oracle is limited to accounts without mobile numbers and discloses account existence rather than credentials.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
