Arbitrary file upload via WXR validation bypass
Published Dec 6, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Arbitrary file upload in Brainstorm Force Starter Templates 4.4.41 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to write server files. The WXR import validator accepts a double-extension filename as WXR after sanitization without rejecting its dangerous executable type. Author-level WordPress access is required; when the server executes the uploaded file, attacker code reads or modifies site data.
