Browser crash via unchecked shader output location

Published Nov 11, 2025 · Updated Nov 11, 2025

Incorrect boundary handling in Firefox before 145 allows remote attackers to crash the browser through crafted WebGPU shader output. WebGPU pipeline validation accepts a WGSL color-attachment location above maxColorAttachments and passes the index to the graphics backend. Opening attacker-controlled web content is sufficient; the observed consequence is a GPU-process or driver crash, and value retrieval was not demonstrated.
