Memory corruption via dangling capture callback
Published Nov 11, 2025 · Updated Apr 13, 2026
Use-after-free in Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird before 145 and ESR before 140.5 allows remote attackers to corrupt memory through WebRTC. CallbackHelper::OnCaptureEnded dispatches a runnable that captures mParent and mStreamId by reference without guaranteeing their lifetime. Exploitation requires user interaction and a permanent screen or window capture error, exposing the parent process after the callback object is freed.
