CVE-2025-12905Network attack vector

Mark of the Web bypass via crafted HTML

Published Nov 7, 2025 · Updated Nov 7, 2025

Security feature bypass in Google Chrome before 140.0.7339.80 on Windows allows remote attackers to evade Mark of the Web via crafted HTML. Google identifies the Downloads component but has not publicly disclosed which origin-validation operation mishandles the page or downloaded file. The attack requires user interaction with attacker-controlled web content; the documented consequence is loss of the Windows provenance mark rather than direct code execution.
