Unauthenticated gallery manipulation via unprotected AJAX action
Published Nov 15, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Authorization bypass in Contest Gallery 28.0.2 and earlier allows remote attackers to alter gallery metadata through an AJAX action. The plugin exposes cg_check_wp_admin_upload_v10 to unauthenticated requests and executes it without a capability check or nonce validation. No account is required; the action can inject existing WordPress media attachments into galleries and change gallery metadata, but cannot move or upload files.
