Arbitrary media deletion via missing ownership check
Published Nov 15, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Missing authorization in All in One SEO 4.8.9 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to delete arbitrary media attachments. The image-generator REST endpoint checks only edit_posts before passing an attacker-supplied attachment ID to the deletion path, without verifying ownership or deletion permission. Contributor-level access and knowledge of a valid attachment ID are sufficient to permanently remove that media item from the WordPress site.
